The World is not Flat Afterall

Thomas Friedman revealed that there are areas of the world that are ‘not flat.’ Friedman claims that this unflattened world is a world that is not thriving from outsourcing. These areas of the world are disease ridden, poverty stricken, and just filthy places in the world that are situated in such close proximity to the flat world, yet are unable to grasp or reap the benefits from it. These areas do not have the money to provide schooling to its young inhabitants, and the schooling that the children do receive are not nearly as prestigious an academy in a wealthier nation. As a result, these nations are left behind while other countries surrounding them continue to prosper. Because other nations are benefiting from this digital revolution, other countries that are left behind feel anger and frustration towards the countries that are prospering. This reveals that poverty breeds terrorism which explains why tragedy’s like 9-11 took place. Since they are not a part of the global market, the poverty stricken nation feels jealous of the countries that are thriving thereby causing them to act out their frustrations by causing damage to the prospering countries.
