Frontline: Is Walmart Good For America?

Gimmie a "W" Gimme a "A" Gimmie a "L" Gimmie a "Sqiggly" Gimmie a "M" Gimmie a "A" Gimmie a "R" Gimmie a "T"..... Thats the cheer for the fabulous WalMart. Have i shopped there before..Yes. i think that their prices are low and it is easy to go to this one store to get many of the things i need around my house. Toys, Auto Care, Needlework and Basic household items like windex and paper towels is really what i go there for but instead of going to 4 stores im only going to one. It does have a bad reputation, i think. watching the frontline video was quite interesting. In this episode it showed that walmart had made over $250 BILLION dollars in one year and an estimated 1 million shop at a walmart each day. That to me, this is insane! But, because of the low prices, many factories and maunfactures are losing buisness and actually is putting people out of work. It never stated how many people or what manufactures are losing the most buisness. When it was said, it was very breif. They have a device that scans the item, and tells the employee how many are in stock, how much its on sale and how often it has been selling. as frontline mentioned it was like a little 'computer' in the upc. Walmart judges the price for the item based on how it will sell and the demand of the item. I think that Walmart is getting out of hand in the way that eventually some stores will go out of buisness. The first Walmart opened in 1962 and only recently became more popular (to long island) because of the many stores they have put on the island. A spokesman for walmart said that because of the low prices its actually giving us a chance to save money and become rich. What do you think?
