Lonely Girl not so Lonely?
Before reading the article , The Lonelygirl That Really Wasn’t by Virginia Heffernan and Tom Zeller Jr. I was familiar with the story of this "lonely girl." As a crazed addict to youtube, i happen to come across one of her video blogs one day. However, i never became much of a follower or fan.
Call me crazy or even call me a con-artist too, but i think it was pretty smart of these producers and directors and even the actress to create this on going youtube soap opera of video blogs. It is a great way to form a fan base and to figure out who really is interested in something like "Lonelygirl15."
Besides, who cares if this was only for advertisement for an upcoming movie. If you're a fan, why wouldnt you become a bigger one? Why wouldn't you be happy that your favorite character "Bree" is going to be a movie star?
Its pretty interesting. I guess the only way i would have sympathy for those fans and followers who felt betrayed is for something like this:

"The series, which Mr. Flinders and Mr. Beckett plan to continue on a site
overseen by them, may play differently with fans now that they know for sure
that Bree is an actress. Part of the appeal of the series was that the
serious-minded, literate Bree offered an unbeatable fantasy: a beautiful girl
who techy guys had something in common with."
Its pretty interesting. I guess the only way i would have sympathy for those fans and followers who felt betrayed is for something like this:
"On learning that Ms. Rose was an actress whose interests, unlike the
scientific and religious issues that fascinated Bree, ran to parties and posing,
one fan wrote, “Very cute, but she’s really not into Feynmann and Jared Diamond!
(I’m heart-broken ...But a wonderful actress, had me fooled into thinking she
was a geek like me.)”
