Phone Apps for illegal aliens

An article from readwriteweb.com discusses a phone application helping illegal immigrants come to America. A phone app called the "Transborder Immigrant Tool" has been developed by a group called Electronic Civil Disobedience.

Its a simple mobile application that was made to aid border-crossers from Mexico. The application maps the safest routes to take from Mexico to the U.S..

The app originated from a hacktivist from UCSD. The app is made compatible with even the cheapest cell phones and uses spatial data systems as well as GPS for simulation, resource allocation, survaillence, management of opertive networks and pre-movement pattern modeling.

One model is called virtual hiker algorithm. This is what maps or potential trails for hikers but is in an alpha state of development.
