Upgrading a supercomputer?!!

One of the world's most fastest and highly sophisticated machine is called the Jaguar. The Jaguar is a super powered computer designed to have one of the fastest AMD processor in the world. The supercomputer runs at About 37,376 AMD processors, to begin with. The Jaguar has 255,584 processing cores and is built using AMD six-core Istanbul Opteron chips running at 2.6 gigahertz. Now if you compare that to your computer, you then realize trying to upgrade your computer is no where near difficult as this super powered computer.

The Jaguar has a system memory of 362 terabytes, which is almost three times that of the second largest system. It can read and write files at 284 gigabytes per second and uses a 10-petabyte shared file system. Most of those components remain unchanged from the earlier versions of Jaguar. This makes the upgrading process take about a week to do. The jaguar is ranked one of the top 500 supercomputers in the world. It also competes against the IBM's "road runner" supercomputer beating it.
