Webcams. Good or Bad?
This article was kind of interesting. I went into it thinking that it was a bad idea to be online showing yourself off to everybody. I really didn't understand the purpose of it. You have somebody telling you to take your clothes off and stuff. It was stupid to me. But after reading this article i changed my mindset a little bit.
"Beth describes her exhibitionism as a safe turn-on, a mode of expression that protects her physically and emotionally. If someone laughs or pokes fun at her, she doesn't have to know about it. She can enjoy an image of herself as a taboo temptress.
"There's an excitement to it because you're going against what society dictates as the norm," she says. "I can do whatever I want. If I want to flip my top off and fondle my breast, I can."
She enjoys the power dynamic that comes with being watched, saying that "you know what the man wants and it's your choice whether you want to give it to him or not."
When she said that i felt bad. I felt like she had a very low self esteem, but by her doing this it made her feel important. I feel if you want to do it, and your not hurting anybody go ahead. Alot of people might not agree with it but it doens't matter what other people think. As long as you are happy

If that anonymity of hte web allows us to lower our inhibitions will we become a culture of depraved exhibitionists? What does that say about the direction that American culture is heading? Is this just an extreme example or will the next generation be less inhibited than the last because of this new form of expression and interaction. Is online amateur porn the next generation of reality TV? Can this exhibitioism be contained by regulation and surveillance? Should it be?
