Do you myspace?

When people ask if I myspace and my answer is yes, I get mixed reactions.. Some people say thats cool and some people say why do you waste your time? I occasionally go onto myspace.com to associate with friends from high school, etc. , but i dont go crazy on decorating my myspace.com page and adding all the pretty decors to go with it. The only time I will leave a comment on one of my friends myspace.com pages is when they leave me one.

I think that myspace.com is not only a place for people to interact and talk and catch up on things but i also think its a place that causes to much drama between friends and can be dangerous at the same time when a man or women pretends to be a 15 year old male/female when they are really 45-50years old. You can pretend to be who you want to be on myspace.com and nobody would know the difference.

Another website that was created recently is called facebook.com. Although facebook.com has some of the same things as myspace.com you cant go as crazy decorating your page as you can on myspace.com. Facebook.com is the type of website that lets you see how your fellow students from high school are doing, and where they are now in life. The website is more conservative looking and doesnt offer as much as myspace.com is..

Comments:
Comparing Facebook and MySpace is an interesting topic. They are both competing for the same demographic. Myspace seems to have the momentum and I think that you have hit on a couple of reasons why. Personalized space is key here. Control over your own image, your presentation of self is crucial. Myspace offers more options to personalize you image. Is this a new form of individuality? Or is a new way to conform? What are the brands here? Is there a style of myspace page that labels you as belonging to one group or another?
