Understanding the Creation of Our Environment
Gaudin, Sharon,"Collider test called a 'great milestone of mankind," Computerworld.com 09/10/2008
Sharon Gaudin from Computerworld.com, reports that scientist may have found a milestone in answering the question, "how was the universe created?". The Large Hadron Collider, which is world's most powerful particle accelerator, had a particle beam make the full journey around the accelerator for the first time. Scientist accelerated two particle beams toward each other at 99.9% of the speed of light. Smashing the beams together will create showers of new particles that should recreate conditions in the universe just moments after its conception.
"Today's successful test run of a massive particle
collider is being called "one of the great engineering milestones of
mankind."
"This is part of the quest to explore our surroundings. It's part of
the quest to understand our world and ourselves, Wyslouch said in a previous interview."
I feel this is an important invention because if anything happened that threatened our survival, we may be able to fix, if we knew how the universe was created. Also it will settle the theories that have been created about the universe construction. Some people believe the Big Bang Theory, others believe God created the universe in seven days, this invention will prove one of these theories as legitimate.

An important story. What is the connection to the digital revolution?
How does this news story about experimental physics, sub-atomic particles and the Big Bang grow out of an information and communications revolution in scientific research?
