Everyone of my peers has or once owned a Myspace account. The website is mainly popular among teenagers, musicians, people looking for love and some for old friends. My personal use for Myspace is to promote upcoming events or music videos that i've worked on. This has its awkward moments because occasionaly you meet people in the streets that you only ever met online. But this ability to generate recognition is what created careers for people like Soulja Boy.
Soulja Boy who got recognized for posting videos of himself rapping and dancing on YouTube and Myspace. He created a huge fanbase through the social network which ended up with a succesful career. The ability to reach a vast audience through increasing your network is the most benificial aspect of Myspace for musicians. With the feature to add songs and videos on your homepage makes the task of distribution much easier.
