"Reader, I Dated Him"

It took me a while to finally decide on which article i wanted to write my blog about. I scrolled through some of the different articles and became interested in an article titled "Reader, I Dated Him".

Stephanie Rosenbloom, of the NY Times wrote an article about a young women named Ms. Klein who has been blogging about the intimate details of her life, from affinity for rainy days and grilled cheese sandwiches to her sexual escapades, including one that involved a stranger and a can of Pam cooking spray.. She relates Ms.Klein to being just like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City.

As I read this article I came to understand why so many people around the world became so interested in reading Ms. Klein's blogs. She not only blogged about her personal life but she also wrote a memoir of her life from her childhood days at fat camp, to the husband she said cheated on her while she was pregnant, to her subsequent abortion and her ongoing quest for love. Nothing, it seems, is too private not to share with readers.

I definitely thought that this article was easy to read and very easy to understand.

Comments:
What does it mean to share intimate details of your life with an anonymous audience on the web? What kind of relationship is being created here? Is it just entertainment? Is this just like watching a soap opera? or Oprah? Is there any difference between this and Sex and the City? Does it seem more real?
