An Orange County school district's efforts to integrate technology into students' lives by urging families to purchase laptop computers is creating a furor among parents who say the pricey obligation is segregating their children into the haves and have-nots.The Los Angeles Times has an article about the controversy in an O.C. school district about whether parents should be required to buy $1500 laptops for their children. Some wealthier school districts across the country are starting to mandate the purchase of laptops, of course not all school districts or parents can afford this and there is some debate over whether this mandate has clear educational benefits.
